Solution-Focused Mindset: An Introduction

Do you feel like your negative thoughts are taking over every aspect of your life? Do you feel like somehow everything always happens to you?

For the longest time my mind was full of so many negative thoughts. It seemed like I would walk from one dark cloud to the next. I let time pass me by and allowed my mind to fill itself with roadblocks, self-sabotage, and a stuck mentality.

Now I want to share with you how I changed my thoughts and developed a solution-focused mindset.

What is a Solution-Focused Mindset?

Solution-focused mindset is a proven and practical approach to positive change within you. Problems are looked at as challenges and when we think of challenges, we often think that they are difficult to overcome. Solution-focused mindset points out the skills, strengths, and resources in you, which in return will motivate you to accomplish your goals.

A solution-focused mindset skips over the continuous delving of problems and goes straight to the solution. For example:

  • Don’t fix what isn’t broken (keep the good habits and get rid of the bad)

  • Find what works and do more of it

  • Stop doing what doesn’t work and do something else

Benefits of Solution-Focused Mindset

  • Feel empowered to focus on what you can do

  • Cut the complaining

  • Create self-awareness

  • Produce your own results
